Inside My Cage Poem by Jane Quijano

Inside My Cage

I am like a captive bird
Inside my cage;
I can get out
But I am back inside again!

My spirit is in chain-
Kindled by dreams
Of being free,
Now, searing with pain...

I cannot escape
from the madness
Of my own curiosity-
Tempting the soul
Of its highest peak
And breaking!

My spirit is in chain
It cannot be free
Of its searing pain,
Or can it?
