Insider/Outsider Poem by Virginia Ramirez

Insider/Outsider

As an insider looking out
I see all those people and shout
Wondering if they can hear me
Wondering if they can see
See that as an insider looking out
It looks so much more fun to be about
To be laughing and running out in the sun
Just teasing friends and making fun
Then I see one little girl
Very fair with lots of curls
She is an outsider looking in
Thinking about how her life could have been
Shouting and yelling at all the people inside
Wondering if they can let her on their side
I realize that day
Even if everyone outside likes to play
There’s always that one person who is looking in
Wondering how their life could have been
Even though that everyone inside likes to laugh
There’s always just one person who wants the other half
Wondering how the sun would feel
Just to go out side for fun to be real.
