Insomnia Poem by Samantha Wallace

Insomnia

Tossing, turning, cannot sleep
Leg in, leg out, too hot, too cold,
Turn the pillow, just right.
Brain churning, cannot stop
Trying to put the day to rest,
Thinking of things I didn't get done,
Things I've still to do,
The list seems endless…
Thinking of dreams yet undreamt,
What to do, things not to forget
Important day tomorrow, cannot oversleep,
Should've set the alarm instead.
Trying to switch my brain off,
Counting sheep, nothing works
TV back on, scan the channels
Nothing to watch, TV off
It's coming! Eyes are shutting, brain is blurry,
Oh, drat - now I need the toilet!
