Internet Love Poem by Dave Alexander

Internet Love

Everyone says, it’s not going to work, it can’t last,
An internet relationship is doomed to end fast.
That having not met in person, you can’t really know,
That it’s all fake, the feelings are just for show.

The thing is, my feelings are strong and are real,
With the great distance between us, I can deal.
I know you feel them too, I really do,
It shows in what you say and what you do.

The miles are long and the ocean is deep,
But I can’t help dreaming about you in my sleep.
Will we meet one day? To show our love is real,
Our families are skeptical, but they’ll just have to deal.

I wish I could describe the conflict inside,
The fear that it’s not real, washes over me like the tide.
I want to explain to everyone, what you do to me,
How far you are and how near you seem to be.
