Into The Night Poem by Michael Pendragon

Into The Night

Into the Night my thoughts are sped
Into the realm of Dream
After the sun's last rays have fled
And all the stars do gleam
Fast in the Dark, my weary head
Is soothed by a stray moonbeam

Dragons of Sleep appear above
Swallowing up the skies
Lorelei whisper dreams of love
- Lilting, alluring lies -
Deep in a secret moonlit grove
I close my longing eyes

When in the Night my thoughts are sped
Phantasmal forms arise
Daemons alight beside my bed
Shifting their shapes before my eyes
When I'm among the quick and dead
I still shall dread their cries

Into the Nether-world of Night
Adrift on a starlit sea
Crystalline vistas fill my sight
As cold arms encompass me
Awash on a sunneless wave of light
I hasten to Fate's decree

Now does the hand of Peace descend
Now does the moon burn red
Now is the hour when mem'ries blend
With visions of Hope and Dread
Alone in the Night, my gentle friend
I bend my star-crossed head
