If it is relief it comes guised too
speciously – am I reprieved or
may I take the cant to task?
Ambivalence like this breaks
rocks in a conscience disturbed
by shocking self-revelations
Agreed, mythology is reality
by dint of a naively innocent
tho’ over-active imagination
What I see may not be the facts
but I know coolness when I meet it
and that leaves me abandoned
