It Ain't True Poem by Phoenix1 Smith

It Ain't True

My Mother has spoken: 'you are
the most beautiful of them all'
best friend said: 'you're so pretty,
can be the true belle of the ball'

dear papa uttered: 'your face,
can truly launch thousand ships'
them I believed with all my heart
been giddy right from the start

then one day I decided to ask
this ever so enchanted mirror
most honest one you can find
compelled with so much ardor

I cried: 'mirror! mirror, on the wall!
who is the most beautiful of us all? '
stupid grinning mirror then replied:
'when are you going to see image
widely staring at you my dear girl? '

'you do not need an enchanted me
just look at any mirror you can see
look at the image right in front you
so now you know, what they all say,
sweet to hear, but it all ain't true...'
