It Could Be Worse Poem by Tammy Arthur

It Could Be Worse

Today I awoke and for what I thought I hate this life of mine.
I took a walk as I got to the corner I saw an old man begging for food.
I crossed the street I looked down there was a little girl no shoes a torn dress dirty from head to toe missing half her teeth.
I saw a woman who had been beaten black and blue.
There were people living out of cardboard boxes just trying to stay warm.
I thought as I made my way home my life isn’t so bad after all.
