It Finishes Today Poem by Emily Jayne Marsh

It Finishes Today

I’m tired, done, drawing a line,
Letting go of things that never were mine.
The truth it hurts, more than a lie,
I figured it out and started to cry.
Now trust is gone and hope is lost.
There’s nothing worth fighting for, not for this cost.

To you it’s just a game you’ve won,
I guess you think it’s all been fun.
And I was a fool to wait, to stay,
I should have walked out yesterday.
Wrapped around your finger, is where you thought I’d stay,
I bet you didn’t think you’d read this note today.

So,
Listen to my footsteps as I gently walk away,
This is where it ends, it finishes today.
