It Is In So Many People Poem by Francis Duggan

It Is In So Many People

It is in so many people this desire for money and fame
To be admired by many as one of a great name
Yet few admired by many are humble of mind
Many of the town's known to be high achievers to narcissism inclined
It was indeed a wise person who first said
That too much praise can go to anyone's head
Applause can be an ego inflating thing
This is what happens when many your praises does sing
In a Human World where so many people for attention compete
The down to earth people becoming harder to meet
To many the size of your home or the size of your car
Says more of you than the kind of person you are
With so many in the Human World it is this way
And this is a rather sad thing for to say.
