It Is True Poem by Francis Duggan

It Is True

It is true that in Nature's wild kingdom the weak never do seem to thrive
And only the strongest and fittest are those that can hope to survive
And the Human World not that much different the gap between the haves and the have nots is growing ever wide
And things not improving in third World Countries where millions of hunger have died.

It is true not all people are equal though some may tell you otherwise
And that money speaks every language to say differently would be lies
We hear about winners and losers in sports as in life just the same
The person who is poor and homeless can only dream of wealth and fame.

Those born on the poor side of the City must struggle on from day to day
That their postal address is against them that does seem a sad thing to say
And the lucky few with jobs to go to must work for the lowest of pay
That's human life as some will tell you but must human life be this way?

It is true that in Nature's wild kingdom the big on the weaker do prey
And the sick and the frail and the injured of life do not have a long stay
And the Human World not that much different for those living in poverty
For to exist find it a struggle and only wish for what might be.
