It Is True That Your Dog Poem by Francis Duggan

It Is True That Your Dog

It is true that your dog is your only true friend
And will remain loyal to you until her or his life end
Your spouse or your children as your friend may not stay
But your dog will love you until it's last night and day
For their ever loyal friendship dogs only need
A few kind words every day a walk and a feed
For their unconditional love of their human friends dogs are well known
One can say of them they are in a class of their own
Dogs have given their lives their masters trying to defend
Than your dog you will not have a greater friend
By example in loyalty they surely does lead
Of their love of their human friends we often read of and hear
No one will love you more than your dog does why otherwise pretend
That inher or him you do not have a truer friend.
