It’s Not The Crowd Poem by Michael P. Johnson

It’s Not The Crowd

Rating: 5.0

The wayward heart when drenched with shame
Condemns the very soul
Yet Christ who died to take the blame
Can save and make us whole

Christ’s Holy Flame, His gentle Force
Convicts the heart of sin
With peace, He brings such sweet remorse
That leads to change within

Yet still we seek the crowd for peace
Instead of Christ above
We hope a crowd will bring release
Will give us strength and love

We just can’t fool with life today
And think we understand
We can’t despise the cross and say
I’m safe in Jesus’ hand

This life we live is not our own
But Jesus’ Christ God’s Son
Responsible; is each alone
For all on earth we’ve done

Of any crowd we should beware
Not seldom are they wrong
The way we choose with them to share
Could be our dying song

In crowds can dwell such evil deeds
Can house so much debris
We cannot live with Satan’s weeds
To thrive; we must be free

Without the crowd the Lord will reign
When through true faith we trust
Alone in Christ we’ll live again
While crowds return to dust.
