It's What You Can'T Do Poem by Guarded Heart

It's What You Can'T Do

All that I’ve learned
Nothing came from you
You think you’ll force me
Into your narrow conformity

You say I’m blind to reality
You’re wrong, you just don’t agree with my reality
You can’t be happy, so in your mind, neither can I
I am the cause of all your problems
Go ahead, justify blaming me
Or better yet, just blame me, you don’t need justification
As long as you win you don’t care

You believe in me being what you want me to be
But I’ll never again lose me, and you’ll always fail to see
That I did it all for me, to make me happy
You don’t have to agree, but he’s the better half of me
Guess what? I’m leaving, and if he won’t have me
Then I’ll leave with someone who will
But I’m leaving and you can’t stop me

You don’t scare me anymore
I have real things to fear
No longer can you hurt me
You don’t even have the right to touch me
He deserves me more than you do, at least he tells me he loves me
Can’t remember when you last said it, you don’t have it in you

And you know what?
\as of today I’m free
No longer do you have me
You can’t hold me back
