It was heart-rejoicing
When you came into this world—
Mother cradled you,
First in her womb, then in her arms,
Singing life into your breath.
It was heart-wrenching
When you left this earth—
A deep grave
Cradled you in its shadows,
Blazing fire
Transformed you into flames.
Did you ever lift
The veil of illusion,
And grasp the meaning
Of life and death?
Calculations of gain and loss
Kept you bound
Within dark corridors of the mind—
A dread of absence,
A relentless thirst for more,
Veiled your eyes
To wisdom's light.
How can you know
That you are life—
Unending, undying?
Such is your Eternal Essence.
