It Was The Coldest Winter Poem by ART PAUL SCHLOSSER

It Was The Coldest Winter

It was the coldest winter ever
And the sun barely shined
That bitter January day
When you left me behind

It was the coldest winter ever
The day you said goodbye
And even in the summer
The cold winds didn't die

I felt so lonely
I felt so dead
Would I ever love again
"No! " is what my fears said

Suicide kiss me
And invited me to come
But I didn't want you to have the pleasure
Of saying you won

So I got up
And I grabbed my guitar
I wrote this song for you
So you could see my winter scars

Yes, I'm sure it's over
Yes, I'm sure your love is threw
But that doesn't mean
I should give up on me too

So though it was the coldest winter ever
It wasn't without wood for the fire
So I prayed to God for hope
And he kindled my desire
