It Will Be Okay Poem by Mira Midha

It Will Be Okay

When I was a child
I had many fears,
As many others did,
But I hid
Behind that fake door,
Looking for one way
Or maybe more
To be strong.
I didn't like the dark
Or unusual sounds,
I feared spiders
Crawling on the ground,
I needed that hand on my head
That said it will be okay,
And I was on my way.

As I grew
Fears became far
But not too few,
I feared of not being good enough,
And of letting go,
Or treading on a dirt path
Where my footprints would show,
Being just a mere murmur
Amidst all the sound,
Of building so many wall,
That's hard to tear down.
Of being that leaf on a branch,
That quivers in a storm
Yet holds on ‘cause roots are deep,
Of monsters in my dreams
As I sleep,
Suppressing secrets
That I was forced to keep,
I needed that hand on my head
That said it will be okay,
And I was on my way.

To always do right
Was the hardest of all,
And hold up high
Never fall,
Believe in a truth
That frightened my breath,
Fear of living and a fear of death,
I need that hand on my head
That said it will be okay,
And I was on my way.
