Its Another New Years Day Poem by Aliw Mismanos

It is almost new years day
Here i am looking like dooms day
Cold and alone in a foreign land
No one with me but a broom in my hand.

The clock is unbearably loudly ticking
The most awaited midnight is coming
My weary heart and mind racing
Watery eyes blinking and lips trembling.

So many lonely years had passed
Every Christmases and New Years im sad
All i have is prayer and faith in God
Pleading next time let me be jolly and glad.

How i wish to be with my happy family
Hearing noises and laughters so merrily
Preparing mouth-watering foods proudly
Jumping with excitement as firecrackers booms loudly!

How i miss wearing those polka dots
Keeping coins in my bulgy pockets
How id love to see my siblings delight
Peck a kiss as i greet them happy new year my dearests!

These festivities all year round
Always cover me with hazy cloud
Making my heart pound so hard
Tiny hiccupsin my room was the only sound.

Grasping on the thin thread of hope
That next i will be able to cope
Our lives will no longer be in dope
We'll be together, im no longer alone, NOPE!

Its another new years day...
Its time to wish and to cheer
Face new day with glee no tear
Believe! the next ones will be better!
