I've Loved You Before Poem by Aman Basnet

I've Loved You Before

Rating: 5.0

I woke as something I had never been,
With fragile wings and feathers washed in pink,
The sky was wide, the water standing still,
But something in my chest refused to heal.

I know something is missing…
Is it your beautiful face I was dreaming?
Something dim, like an ember,
The face I am trying to remember…

I searched for you everywhere, more and more,
Through silent skies and distant shores,
But never found the soul I knew,
The world felt incomplete without you.

I saw a similar face in the water…
Trying to seek her…
But lost her…

Eventually, I finally found you, fully drained,
You were with someone else—
After that, only the pain remained.

I've loved you once, I've loved you twice,
Across new names, across new lives,
I walk away, yet still remain,
A prisoner to the same old pain.

And even death won't set me free,
My soul will wander endlessly,
Through every life, through time and sound—
Chasing a love never found.

Even after death, my soul will try
To chase the love that was never found.
