Jack Iversen Will Never Die Poem by Francis Duggan

Jack Iversen Will Never Die

Rating: 5.0

Jack Iversen will never die his spirit will keep living
For he is one with a huge heart he has the gift of giving
If everybody were like him mankind would be united
And it would be a crime free Planet Earth and none would be exploited.

He's lived in Wonthaggi all of his life for as long as he can remember
And he's now in his twilight years one might say life's September
Wonthaggi born and bred and raised and the son of a coalminer
And one possessed of a big soul and than him there's none finer.

A rabbiter, share farmer and farmer and one who knew hard labour
And I feel happy and quite pleased for to have him for a neighbour
For he has helped me more than once and he's been a friend to many
His equal would be hard to find and I have not known any.

The unsung hero of Loch Street he does not seek out glory
And a book on him and on his life would make for a good story
In the early fifties in his prime as we flick through time's
pages
In post world war 2 when jobs were few he worked hard for small wages.

The reaper from us all one day the breath of life will sever
But Jack Iversen will never die his soul will live forever
Death is not mapped out for the soul his spirit will keep living
For he is one with a huge heart and he has the gift of giving
