January, February... Poem by Denis Martindale

Take heed, guys! A word to the wise! Saint Valentine's is near!
Before it takes you by surprise, which one is held most dear?
Of all the world, is she the one, deserving of your best?
Her smile as dazzling as the sun, deserving to be blessed?

And does she pray for you as well, as if she's preached for years?
And can she cook? Well, time will tell, whatever else appears!
And does she praise God she can live and also preach Good News?
And does she tithe, a tenth to give? Or does she buy more shoes?

I envy those embracing love, yet true love's worth much more,
If you're in love, then sure enough, by now, you know the score.
A present here, a present there, some flowers now and then,
Saint Valentine's the time to share your true love once again!
