John Howard Mccornack’s Table Poem by Marilyn Lott

John Howard Mccornack’s Table

John Howard had wonderful memories
Passed down and will continue to do so
These stories are truly family keepsakes
That helps history continue to flow

Along with John Howard’s hand-cuff tale
He had one about a grand walnut tree
And from this tree was then built
Some special furniture for the family

A great piece of furniture that was created
Was a table from this strong stout timber
John Howard had seen this table
For as long has he could remember

As time went on he found a fellow
Who was an artist with a piece of wood
John Howard wanted a Gate Leg Table
And asked the man if he could

The Gate Leg Table’s been treasured
For years ever since that time
As each new generation is born
It’s an heirloom of a special kind

And now ‘our’ John McCornack
Has this table nestled into his home
Yes, it took a little journey, of course
Traveling from California to Yukon!
