John Lennon (1940-1980) Poem by Sheena Blackhall

John Lennon (1940-1980)

Every man has a woman who loves him
He was a big hit with wife number one
They were married on borrowed time

Imagine Instant Karma
Starting Over
John & Yoko

Then came the old story
Cold Turkey
Crippled Inside

No more mind games
Hoping for the luck of the Irish
In New York City
Glitter of steel and glass

On global TV screens around the world
We sat watching the wheels fall off
End of an era, within earshot of his death
The juggernaut that was Lennon
Peace maker extraordinaire
