John’s Special Places Poem by Marilyn Lott

What a wonderful time it was
To see John’s special places
That I’ve written many poems for
He has put me through my paces

Like Ann’s Chicken Fry House
With delicious splendid food
Just looking at my plate
Put me in a ‘hungry’ mood

And the décor drew me back
To when I was just a teen
It’s from pictures like these
I got ideas for my ‘50s’ theme

I autographed a special brick
That now is just for us
They asked me to sign it
And made a special fuss

I bought a shirt, of course
Like the one that’s in the picture
Oh how I loved my visit
I could be a daily fixture

What a wonderful time we had
With John and Elaine that day
The perfect host and hostess
They made us truly want to stay!
