Johnny - Poem by James Vaughn

Staring blankly into yesterday, his tears mixed with sand under his cheek.

Johnny was cooking burgers at a desolate restaurant, just a fortnight ago.

Mom and Dad smile, saying joyous things, tremors in their eyes say otherwise.

Smoke, dust, and sand the screeching projectiles bouncing.

Valorous knights, dark winds blow bitter breath, beware of glory.

Thin spread, their whispers shouting, evasion served them well.

Ferrari red eyes yelling, the vanquished lay staring blankly into yesterday.
