Joy - Poem by Val Jennings

I wanted to be happy.
I worked for it in vain,
for happiness is not the goal,
and, so I tried again.

I wanted to be helpful.
And, so I got involved.
I felt inside an inner pride.
My problem had been solved.

For joy comes through service.
Improved through constant prayer.
Serving others serves Him best
and happiness is there.
