Just A Face Poem by Rose Marie Cook

Just A Face

When I write I write my life
When I write I say what other people cannot
You may read it and think that it is harsh and sad
But the thing is that’s how our world is.

I don’t write to scare people
I don’t write for sympathy or compassion
I write to inform
I write to be free and express my view on topics I believe are vital

I write from their perspective, not my own
I make you want to help
My writing is for the one’s who cannot say it themselves
My writing is for those who like the way I think

I write because you don’t have to know me
Or see how I look,
You can’t automatically judge me
Cause you don’t even know

Writing is my life because it says everything I cannot express
It is the way I reach people
So that they will listen and not tune me out
By the way I look or how I talk.

Poetry is the new way to communicate
It is the secret language known by many but used by few
Poetry should be shared to give your outlook on your life
To help people understand you, the real you
And to stop the judgments and the disrespect we ware shown

This is my life, and no one truly knows who I am
In person.
But does that really matter?
To me it’s just a face.

You don't even know my real name.
That's how I want it to stay.
