-JUST A HOUSEWIFE? -
Freely, I give each day
of life
To what others call
eternal strife.
To cook and clean
and scrub the floor
Then, fresh and bright,
meet you at the door.
To listen with
a loving ear
To all the things
that you hold dear.
To gently touch'
at end of day,
The worry lines
I ease away.
But, just between
the two of us,
What is this liberation
fuss?
Chauffer-Mother-Cook
or Maid
Nurse-Helper-Lover
and Aide.
The pay that I receive,
with glee,
Is the love you freely
give to me.
