Just A Joke Poem by Steven Rodgers

Just A Joke

On the train ride home,
Amidst the busy business folk,
I saw a man with his friend,
In the middle of a joke,
I leaned forward and listened in,
And then I heard him say,
'The guy would sleep with anything,
Because the guy is gay.'

I was so infuriated,
To be seated near this jerk,
After bussing tables all day long,
This ride seemed more like work,
His friend had laughed and so did he,
They were having a grand time,
The life they mocked, they didn't know,
Was this life of mine.

Is it so hard for some to see?
Their words cause so much pain,
And the lady sitting next to me,
Appeared to feel the same,
My life is not a punchline,
I am begging you to see,
Im an honest, decent, loving person,
Will you listen to my plea?
