Just Another Day Poem by Rick Elpers

Just Another Day

If life were about something
Such as God, a suitable occupation
Family, or friends
One could assume contentment
Or occasionally happiness
Along with the usual struggles
Humans create for themselves
But when none of that
Enters the experience
That which resembles a barren
Desert internally and throughout
Daily living
The only hope is to finally end
This intrusion of the universe
And die
Peaceful death where nothing exists
Apart from the quiet darkness
To which I will soon find
To be eternal escape from the madness of humanity.
And if said God should exist
Having created me
My extrication will be of no surprise
Nor judgment
For all is known before it started
And as creation brought into existence everything
It will also destroy everything
And everyone.
