Just Friends Poem by Emily Velasco

i have felt love and pain
experienced life and death
i have cried and laughed
in anger and happy times, tears were shed

until now i asked myself
was it wrong when i told you
"i love you"
i was expecting "i do too" from you

but when you uttered "it can't be"
heaven just crumbled beneath me
and heavy rains covered my face
and i died that instant

but i am made of a stronger stuff
it's been years since then
we managed to keep the friendship alive
and you keep me in your heart

no lost love
no broken friendship
no songs left unsung
no time wasted
