Just One Step Poem by Lexi Adkins

Just One Step

I take comfort in this rope,
the one tied around my neck.
I can end it all,
I just need to take a step.

Just one step will throw me off this chair.
Just one step and I can leave it all there.

Your actions hurt my hear, each one a little knife.
Stabbing at my soul, ripping apart my life.
Your words haunt my brain, they shake me to the core,
I've heard all your lies, and I won't hear them anymore.

With this final step I take, I push you all away.
Because I've realized something now; I don't really have to stay.
