A Fairy Tale, A Dream Poem by Lexi Adkins

A Fairy Tale, A Dream

Rating: 5.0

Sometimes I lie awake at night and thoughts run through my head.
'Do you miss me, or do you hate me?
Would you care if I were dead? '

Sometimes I cry myself to sleep,
After thinking these dark things,
Because somewhere down inside I know,
That 'we' are nothing but a dream.

A child's dream,
A fairy tale,
That's all that 'we' are
'We' are nothing but a night time wish,
Upon a distant star.

Sometimes I wake and think of you,
Wishing you were near.
But then I start to realize that I wan't thinking clear.

Because 'we' are a child's dream,
A fairy tale,
That's all that 'we' can be,
Because one day you'll wake up,
And realize you want to leave.

'We' cannot be anything more,
Because eventually that would end.
So I guess it's better if I settled for being only friends.

I know it'll be hard and painful,
but it's what I've come to expect.
And I realize that you don't care I've fallen in your net.

'We' are just a child's fairy tale,
A dream lost in the night,
Something to be forgotten, at the break of dawn;
First Light.
