Just You & Me Poem by Michelle Dickson

Just You & Me

We sit together on this swing
We sit together just you and me
I love the way you smile
I love the way you move
But one true statement
Could scare you away
From a love that I need
On this day.

You look at her and you see beauty
You look at her and you don’t see me.

Only when you see the blood
Run from my veins
Will ever know my pain.
The pain of an unrequited love
The pain of watching you love someone other than me.

My blood flows
From this body of mine
Like a stream
That cannot be stopped.

Now you know my pain
In a different form
For now you live with regret
For not saying what had been born
Between the two of us
On that fateful day
As we sat together on that swing
As we sat together just you and me.

Inspired by the song:
Teardrops on My Guitar
By Taylor Swift
