Justice & Inequality Poem by Singleton M. Tate

Justice & Inequality

Free the people cast down
Turn all violence around
Forge the bonds in pure love
Free each soul from above

We are all different... Yet the same
Known of color... Not of name
Break my spirit... No hope is gained
Break my bones... With towering blame

Unleash your wrath... With the power you hold
Delude all knowledge... Through the lies you've told
Place all manner... Of chains upon me
Form my legacy... In catastrophe

Free the people cast down
Turn all violence around
Forge the bonds in pure love
Free each soul from above

Rape the wealth of my heritage...
Lure our senses with fool's gold...
Imprison with sex, drugs and alcohol...
Your subversion was never so bold...

We were slaves without any restitution...
Hung, burnt, molested and shot, we've died...
Still standing proud as God's perfect Heaven...
For our value was always deep inside...

Let each mountaintop awake...
Shake the foundations of this world...
Reach beyond the Abyss of Inequality...
It's time for Justice to prevail...

Free the people cast down
Turn all violence around
Forge the bonds in pure love
Free each soul from above
