Kaleidoscope Eyes Poem by Maria Shaw

Kaleidoscope Eyes

Kaleidoscope eyes that hypnotize
a rainbow of color captivates
smiles and tears contentment and fears
I'm sinking I'm drowning the sun's disappeared.

Black and white
no color in sight
try as I might
no hope is in sight.

Dark clouds and rainy days
refuse to let through the sun's hazy rays
the rainbow hides away
and shadows pray for the light of day.

Explosives and tear gas fill the skies
guns aim at destitute faces
the rainbow lurks in the shadows
why is there so much greed and hatred.

Soon the sun will rise
tears will merge with rain
the rainbow will come back
peace will be restored again.
