Karen Poem by Hank Moody

Karen

Come close,
And I would run for the hills,
Keep your distance,
And I shall play for the thrills,
Let your guard down,
And I shall make my move,
Love is an illusion,
the devil did approve!

So the sun chirped and the birds shone,
And in limbo I was,
beneath the shell, alone.
This is when I met her,
She gave that exquisite vibe,
I flirted and I teased
her, whom mere words cannot describe.

Unaware that this game was already lost,
I had unwittingly paid the cost.
This game had its downside,
My heart was beating outside.

I turned to the devil,
'I would rather live in hell',
'Where do you think you were till now? '
With a chuckle he did tell.

I don't know when, I don't know how,
My head was not the clearest,
But I couldn't care less now,
I had met my lady dearest.
