Keep Me Close - Poem by Pete Rivera

Just a taste of midnight blue
Has me so high I'm up to you
In your little parachute
Away from this earth
Do you know, love? It's you
Your beauty is my rebirth

Lighter wings means more time
As we watch the galaxies align
Why couldn't Saturn wait?
Before it spun too late?
And all those rings
When I buy you
All those pretty things

Keep me close
All I ask is that you
Keep me close
So keep me close

I apologize for all the times I hurt you
But you know I had no intent to abuse you
Just listen closely
And my story shall be clear
You know, despite it all
I love you so much, dear

Keep me close
All I ask is that you
Keep me close
Please keep me close
So keep me close
Close to your heart

Why did you have to leave so soon?
Just as the sun covered the moon
It was dark enough
For us to be alone
But I guess your morals are too strong
For my sins you must condone!

Why did you have to say goodbye?
I never really took you in as shy
You seemed like the kinda girl
Who liked to stay awhile
So why can't you stay awhile?

Keep me close
All I ask is that you
Keep me close
Please, keep me close
Close to your mind
Close to your heart
Close to your soul
