Keep Your Finger Off The Button And Leave This World Alone Poem by alan brown

Keep Your Finger Off The Button And Leave This World Alone

The age of time descended
upon the uneven land.
As now the storms had abated
and silence took its hand.

The sound of leaves a rustling
in a summer breeze.
Was never to be heard again
as the storm took all the trees.

The sight of seagulls flying
above the lighthouse tower.
Was lost from earth forever
We'd even lost the flowers.

The grass was never green again
as it struggled through the dust.
And creatures that had walked the land
In man would never trust.

I looked out on a baron land
to see that all was gone.
And a tear ran down from my burning eye
as I had set off the atomic bomb
