Keep Your Heart In Your Pocket Poem by Anisa Tara

Keep Your Heart In Your Pocket

Keep your heart in your pocket
Stow it away under your bed
Let it sit with the dirt and the dust
Lest it rears its ugly head

Keep your heart in your pocket
Not on your battered sleeve
What is meant for the inside
Is not for anyone else to see

Keep your heart in your pocket
And if you find it falling through
Let it hit the ground and shatter
It's the end of the road for you
