Key To Heaven Poem by Saurabh Jairath

Key To Heaven

On a stormy night, walking down the road,
I came accross a key with a shiny note,
The note sparkled in the night,
Emitting a golden light
On the note the words were written,
Key to the golden gateway to heaven

I took the key home and wondered
Why everyone want to knock on heaven's door
What is the desire, I cannot fathom
Is it the beauty or the imagination far blown
Just then I heard the ruffling of the leaves
And the wind blew me on a celestial journey

I saw a place where the time stands still
A place where every flower blossoms, and the beauty thrills
A place where pleasant river strolls and waterfalls spill
There rose snow clad mountains giving me a chill
But I felt warmth in my heart
The feeling of fullness, accomplishment and without any guilt

Just then I woke up, holding the key in my hand
I realised what I was holding, and now I must take a stand
I have little time in life and a long way to go
The pieces of the puzzle, I have, I know
But I require everyone to board a ship that will take us to shore
I need everyone to work on the dream, to reach abode

The road to heaven is broken,
And it calls out to all of us to help it mend
The peace, the love are the mortar and brick
Sprinkled with the truth and faith, the concrete sticks
Heaven is not a place, its what the feeling we hold
And I am sure, we can reach the kingdom of god, since the key we all hold

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
We all wish to reach heaven thinking it is the perfect destination with all its beauty.
What I feel is that the paradise is not in the clouds but in our hearts. It is what we feel that can make our beautiful heaven on earth.
