Key West Invites Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Key West Invites

Key West's the southern tip
Of United States of America
An island pearl of beauty
In the necklace of Florida keys.

Key's derived from the word "cayo"
It means small island in Spanish language
Hundred mile drive westward from Miami
Brings one to Key West passing keys many.

Mere six square mile island of beauty
Strategically located on Atlantic water
Is key that unlocks the ocean paths
From east to west and north to south.

Many a writer of Hemingway eminence
Frost and Stevens of poetic prominence
Harry Truman and other heads of state
Stayed here long to relax and create.

Chickens and roosters roam the streets
It's a delight to watch'em move so free
Rooster makes a wake up call in the morn
People of the island are so kind and friendly.

Exotic eating places to enjoy cuisine
Fantastic tours on both land and sea
View of unique sunsets see to believe
Make one get inspired to continue.

There're many places in world to see
Key West is distinct and unusual indeed
Well connected by land, sea, and air
It invites one to visit once at least.
