Khmer Rouge Poem by Mason Maestro

Khmer Rouge

S-21's the first in the plotting butter chern of Pol Pot
Otherwise empty streets holds no life in Phnom Penh
Heady days in Vietnam boiled down to a street fight
Nixon has gone home- can the sun be risen once again?
Khmer Rouge
Brand new utopia on the fringe of sheer starvation
Khmer Rouge
Re-writing the terms of Glory through tillage and cultivation

A killing machine society isn't what the people are after
Not exactly principles from the legends of Angkor
Kampuchea's hope remains in western intervention
Yet their foreign policies had never given it a mention
Khmer Rouge
Brand new utopia on the fringe of sheer starvation
Khmer Rouge
Re-writing the terms of Glory through tillage and cultivation

The 5 year regime can boil down to one summation
Their vague understanding had cut-off the lifeblood of a nation
But setting bureaucratic defects and politics aside
Let's never forget the atrocious Killing Fields genocide
