Kindly Words Poem by John Scully

Kindly Words

Imagine;

One word or even two
on a day that's not good or you
and someone nearby
is having a worse one
but you'll never know why
unless with a word and a smile
that says 'I'm having one too'
will stop a cry.

Something daft,
to make them smile.
A troop of monkeys out shopping
in Marks on a Saturday
when the football is on.
Not a camera in sight
to snap such a view
of the chimps asking for refunds
for the cost of the fare
back to the zoo.

Imagine;

Telling a stranger
with a smile and a word
a silly story like that.
