Kings Cross Poem by Francis Duggan

Kings Cross

No matter what your creed or colour be it black, white or brown
You may not find love in Kings Cross that suburb of ill renown
You will receive carnal knowledge of one when for it you do pay
But as anyone will tell you carnal knowledge from true love in feelings far away.

The dark haired one in her twenties at the dimly lit corner of the street
Any young or old bloke in passing with a warm hello does greet
Saying it is nice to see you and would you like a good time mate
For not under fifty dollars we can even copulate.

You may not find love in Kings Cross for love stories from there are rare
For true love and it's pure beauty you may have to go elsewhere
For Kings Cross is hardly the place where love stories begin
Tis not the place you should go to if you are free of sin.

If in need of sexual relief you don't have to be a millionaire
For under one hundred dollars at Kings Cross you are sure to find it there
At any time of the year or anytime of night or day
You can have sexual relief at Kings Cross for far less than your day's pay.

If you are in search of true love Kings Cross of every colour and race
And of prostitutes of all genders for you is not the place
For in the sensual City you will not find a saint
And you ought to go elsewhere if you want love free of taint.
