Knew Me Not Poem by Randy McClave

Knew Me Not

Rating: 4.0

When they needed help I was always there
With my compassion and also my care,
I was also there with an outstretched hand
To support them, and/or to help them stand.
When they needed food upon their table
I was always there willing and also able,
I happily and proudly bought them clothes and meals
And I was there when they needed someone to pay their bills.
From God and faith I did not want them to stray
So, I took them to church almost every Wednesday and Sunday,
But, many times at my home they just slept
That was when, Jesus wept.
I shared them my house which I called it our home
So, from one person to another they wouldn't continually roam,
When I woke up every morning she was there in my bed
But, our relationship was kept a secret in her head.
When they were constantly accused I always had their back
I would valiantly defend any verbal or physical attack,
Truly anything for them without hesitation I would do
As though as my conscience, or God had told me to.
I was proud to have them there at my side
My faith, my love, my hope for them I could not hide,
For them I had proudly and constantly fought;
But, in the end, they say they knew me not.
