Knock… Knock… Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Knock… Knock…

Rating: 5.0

Who is that knocking on my door
At a rapidly accelerating rate…
I barely had a chance to snore
I surmise the need is great

I recognize your countenance
You have been here before
Pleading…with absolutely no defense
Your knuckles are bruised and sore

What is it that is so urgent?
Forgiveness …that is your goal
Cleanse with sudsy detergent
So you can feel whole…

Have you been keeping score?
How are things adding up?
Is your percentage restored?
Or has everything gone amuck?

Opportunities are running short
This will be your final visit…
Your next appearance will be in court
The hearing will determine your transit

I like this. It actually reminds me of a proverb I read from the bible, when I was a kid - about settling a debt/score sooner rather than later (before it ends up in court) . This is a nice piece - the very nature rhymes and length of each sentence really help it to flow. Good job.
