Know Well A Mourning Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Know Well A Mourning

Do you know
Well
Know well a mourning
How well?

I know that well I assert:
For I have suffered.

There be
A time
For
The
Heart
To
Burst
To
Burst
Crying
And
The wetted
Eyes
Need drying:
The burst heart
Needs
Sewing
But
Gentle
Gentle
Gentle
Deep
Too deep
The wounds of injustice:

A
List
Of
Black
Black
Deep black
Passing
One
After
The other in the ordering:
I assert
I say
They passed
Still pass
Crossing a bridge
Black with them
Black
Black
Black.
