Know Who You Are Poem by Hebert Logerie

Know Who You Are

Know who you are
All the time
Brothers
And sisters
This is not a war
This is not a crime
Read and understand
The real and true history
Write and comprehend
The truth and the glory
Of our forefathers
And the struggle of our ancestors.

Understand the truth about you
And what they want you to view
Understand America
Understand Haiti
Understand Jamaica
Understand Africa
Understand your country
Know who you are, brothers
And sisters, all the time
It is not a dumb crime
Remember our forefathers
And celebrate our ancestors.

Be proud, smart, right, brave, strong and bold
You're more precious than platinum and gold
You're more valuable than sapphire and diamond
You're more special than peanut and almond
You, you, you are strong and brave
Like a former slave
You're a martyr
Not a murderer
You've committed no crime
For a dollar or for a stupid dime
You, you, you're somebody
You're smart and free
Know who you are
You are a fighter
You are a winner
Because you fear no war.
