Knowing Never To Come Back... Poem by Sahil Mamtani

Knowing Never To Come Back...

Knowing never to come back,
I turned my back,
To the house I stacked,
One brick at a time,
And there they stood,
All with their hoods,
In the freezing cold of February,
And here I was,
Knowing never to come back,
So I sat back and relaxed,
Only to hear the fire from above,
So here it began,
As I loaded my GAN,
One by one,
Marching ahead,
Seeing bodies buried in the dust,
One by one,
How I wondered where I'd be lying,
Thought the present would have forgotten me,
So I went to do something brave,
For the pride of my nation,
And then it struck me and all I became was martyr,
As wars are endless and strike whenever,
I was hopeless and disappeared forever,
Knowing never to come back again,
Hoping forever to walk the face of earth again!
